XHV-ZPA Zeta Potential Analyzer potential for rapid and accurate testing of fiber suspensions
The latest Zeta Potentiostat retains its original simplicity and ease of operation while adding new features, significantly reducing the instrument's size and weight.
The surface charges of fibers, fillers, particles, or colloidal dissolved substances in pulp suspensions are determined by their ζ potential on the surface. The free colloidal and particle charges in pulp suspensions can be measured using the CPA charge analysis system, while the charges of fibers and fillers are measured using the ZPA fiber potential analyzer. Together, these two types of charges characterize the total Zeta potential of the fiber suspension.
The charge information of fibers in pulp suspension is crucial for optimizing the dosage of chemical additives, which should be adsorbed on the fiber surface. Typically, negatively charged fibers adsorb positively charged additives. The optimal dosage of additives always depends on the Zeta potential in the pulp.
Measuring fiber charge enables precise determination of chemical additive dosage. By comparing blank samples, fiber adsorption of cationic starch, wet-strength resin, and other additives can be easily tested, thereby optimizing chemical addition.
